Homestay Services International San Diego

April 17, 2014 3:26 pm

WHERE TO STAY? One of the biggest decisions you will have to make as you prepare to come to the United States to work, to study, or for vacation is where to stay. The options include dormitory rooms, apartments and hotels. WE BELIEVE THAT THE BEST PLACE TO STAY IS IN AN AMERICAN HOME WITH AN AMERICAN FAMILY.

Homestay Services International (HSI) is a “homestay” business based in San Diego, a large city located in Southern California just south of Los Angeles and Orange County. Southern California is a culturally diverse area of the United States with more than twelve million people.

HSI offers a ”home away from home” environment for international students, guests, dignitaries, and individuals who come to Southern California to study English, vacation, or otherwise interact with Americans. Specifically, our guests are placed in the homes of American families who have expressed an interest in hosting international visitors. These families are individually selected and screened and are ready, willing and able to provide shelter, food, friendship and companionship to the incoming internationals. There is no better way to get your first taste of what America is really like.

Area attractions include Disneyland, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, the La Brea Tar Pits, Universal Studios, Los Angeles and San Diego, sports teams (basketball: Lakers, Clippers, baseball: Dodgers, Anaheim Angels, Padres, football: Chargers, hockey: Mighty Ducks, Kings ), colleges including UCLA and USC, Tijuana and Baja Mexico, beaches, mountains, and a moderate climate that is perfect for everything from surfing and sun bathing to hiking and biking.

The organization was founded in 1982 and the current director is Jae Hopkins. Currently there are branches in San Diego, Orange County, Santa Monica, North San Diego County, Long Beach, Los Angeles, and the Pasadena-Glendora corridor east of Los Angeles.

There is a one-time placement fee to HSI of $300.00 USD.  Other fees vary depending upon location and include homestay rent (typically $700-$800 USD per month), a  refundable deposit (typically $100 USD), and airport pickup (typically $75-$100 USD).  Of course, the location of the homestay will determine the specific fees). HSI is prepared to work with schools, travel companies, groups and individuals and has a long and successful track record of  homestay placements in the Southern California area.
