Interglobal San Diego is seeking a motivated and internationally minded J-1 International Recruiter to recruit qualified candidates for J-1 Intern and Trainee programs in the United States.
The recruiter will identify prospective participants, develop relationships with international universities, recruitment agencies, educational institutions, and professional organizations, and guide applicants through the initial stages of the J-1 application process.
The ideal candidate is an effective communicator with experience in international education, student recruitment, sales, cultural exchange, hospitality, business, or workforce development. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build relationships with candidates and international partners.
Recruit qualified international candidates for J-1 Intern and Trainee programs.
Develop relationships with universities, colleges, recruitment agencies, language schools, and international education partners.
Promote Interglobal San Diego’s J-1 programs through email, telephone calls, online meetings, social media, webinars, and recruitment events.
Explain program eligibility requirements, fees, timelines, documentation, and participant responsibilities.
Conduct initial applicant screenings to determine whether candidates may meet J-1 program requirements.
Review resumes, educational backgrounds, employment histories, English proficiency, and career objectives.
Assist candidates with completing application forms and submitting required documentation.
Coordinate with the Interglobal San Diego compliance and placement teams.
Maintain accurate applicant records and regularly update recruitment databases.
Follow up with prospective applicants throughout the recruitment and enrollment process.
Help participants prepare for interviews with potential host organizations.
Support the development of international recruitment campaigns and promotional materials.
Meet established recruitment, application, and enrollment goals.
Represent Interglobal San Diego professionally and ethically in all communications.
Ensure that recruitment information is accurate and consistent with J-1 Exchange Visitor Program requirements.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, webinars, and recruitment events as required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience in international student recruitment, education, cultural exchange, staffing, sales, marketing, or customer service preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
Ability to manage multiple applicants and deadlines simultaneously.
Comfortable conducting telephone calls, video meetings, presentations, and online recruitment activities.
Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media, and customer relationship management systems.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a compliance and placement team.
Knowledge of J-1 Intern and Trainee programs is preferred but training may be provided.
Additional language skills are highly desirable.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

University partnerships

The J-1 International Recruiter will be expected to:
Generate qualified participant leads.
Maintain consistent communication with applicants and recruitment partners.
Submit complete and accurate applicant files.
Meet reasonable recruitment and enrollment targets.
Provide professional and ethical service to all applicants.
Avoid making guarantees regarding visa approval, placement, employment, compensation, or admission into the program.
Protect confidential applicant and organizational information.
Compensation may include an hourly wage, salary, recruitment commission, enrollment-based incentive, or a combination of these arrangements, depending on the candidate’s experience and assigned responsibilities.
